SSSC's Program

SSSC's Program

When you join us for a 5 day weekly camp session we provide you with a high quality surf instruction program that includes all your surf equipment needs. During the week students learn individual surfing skills, ocean safety techniques and lifesaving skills. On the last day of each camp session campers use their skills in our Beach Games Competition that includes beach and ocean relays as well as a surf competition. All campers receive a South Shore Surf Camp T-Shirt on their last day. Snacks and water are also provided.

Surf Instruction

Surf Instruction

South Shore Surf Camp instructors are highly trained instructors with decades of surfing experiences. Our counselors work with campers in small groups (5:1 ratio) to ensure each camper is given the instruction and attention needed to improve. Lessons focus not just on surfing but also ocean awareness, ocean fitness, wave selection, and surf etiquette.

Ocean Fitness

Ocean Fitness

Campers will participate in various ocean and beach fitness activities including, paddleboarding, paddle rescues, open ocean swimming, ironmans, beach runs and yoga to help better their ocean abilities. All activities are individualized to camper’s skill level and comfort in and out of the ocean.

Ocean Safety

Ocean Safety

Every surfer must understand and respect the power of the Ocean. Our campers are taught how to recognize dangerous situations in the ocean and how to safely avoid them. Rip currents, wind directions, tides and set waves are just some of the topics we thoroughly cover during our weekly sessions. Campers learn how to safely enter and exit the surf and navigate through crowded lineups.

Surf Competition

Surf Competition

Every camp session ends with a Beach Games Competition. The competition includes a surf competition, run relay, swim relay, paddle relay, paddle rescue, ironman/ironwoman, and beach sticks competition. Campers will compete in teams with sportsmanship and teamwork emphasized at all times. Prizes are awarded to campers at the end of the event.

Inclement Weather Days

Inclement Weather Days

In the event of a rainy day, campers meet at the Lillian Jacobs Elementary School gymnasium located at 180 Harborview Rd in Hull. In the gym students continue to work on improving their surfing by working on balance techniques, studying surfboard design, participating in fitness activities, watching surf movies, and listening to surf stories.
Equipment

Equipment

South Shore Surf Camp provides a variety of softtop surfboards. Our boards range in size from 5ft to 8ft with different fin set ups and board shapes. We have over 45 surfboards and 75 wetsuits at the beach every day.
